Donal O'Hanlon campaigning for an Urgent Treatment Centre in Todmorden

Petition for an Urgent Treatment Centre in Todmorden

Back our campaign to improve local health services

Donal O'Hanlon and the Liberal Democrats are campaigning for an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at Todmorden Health Centre. Up until now political involvement has been minimal despite years of NHS negotiations. The outgoing MP for Calder Valley expressed support, but no meaningful political action has followed.

Todmorden Medical Centre has been underused and many rooms are left empty. This is causing frustration among residents.

An Urgent Treatment Centre in Todmorden would benefit the wider community, both people in the Upper Valley who currently face lengthy and complex journeys to reach the nearest A&E, and it would help to reduce A&E waiting times for all residents of Calderdale.

Clean up the Calder

Our River Calder is among the most polluted in the country. The website Top of the Poops collects data from EDM (Event Duration Monitoring) data and Consented Discharges to Controlled Waters with Conditions from Environment Agency. It shows the Calder is top of the poop league in terms of hours of sewage discharge a year! We are campaigning to clean up the Calder. On Calderdale Council, we have put forward political motions calling for action. Despite other parties agreeing it's a problem, little actual action has happened from those in power. That's why we need you! Please support our petition to stop the sewage scandal and clean up the river Calder.

Save Elland Recycling Centre

Calderderdale Council are proposing to close Elland's Household Waste Recycling Centre as part if its planned cuts. Please back our campaign to save Elland Recycling Centre. We believe if savings have to be made, we should instead reduce the opening hours of the site.

Fix our streets

People are fed up with blocked drains, potholes, faded white line markings and broken bollards. Our streets are in a state of total neglect. A toxic combination of Conservative Government cuts and Labour's local mismanagement of the Council has caused this. We are campaigning to sort our streets out! Please sign our petition
